Continuing the alternation between outwardness and inwardness, look outward from your writing today. Perhaps this means repeating the process of gathering materials to incorporate, or just simply growing the thing forward from wherever you are. It could also mean thinking about how your writing makes an invitation to your reader or audience and adding points along its timeline that clarify, energize, or make space for that invitation.
word collection
Collect a list of 30 words. You might pluck them from the spines of books in your house or slip them from overheard conversations if you are in a public place. You might take them from the radio or from signs walking down the street. Then circle fifteen of them and work them into a paragraph, using filling and transitional words as needed.
